Pizza Night

is every week.  Because I do the cooking and I make the rules.

Last week, Silas and I had a little competition.  A "hey I think we're out of mozzarella cheese and possibly pizza sauce so make your own pizza from whatever you can find and we'll see whose is better" kind of competition.

The contenders:

Silas' pizza: black beans, chicken, tomatoes, garbanzo beans, onions, and pepperjack cheese with a sour cream/salsa sauce for the base

He declined to wear my apron.

My pizza: prosciutto, spinach, tomatoes, and sharp white cheddar atop an olive oil/garlic/parmesan-smeared crust

The end result:

Tasty tasty.  A far cry from my usual (pepperoni and green olive with LOTS OF SAUCE AND MOUNTAINS OF CHEESE).

And look how sweet.

*You may have noticed that my Christmas lights are still up.  Stop judging me.  I can't bear to take them down because our apartment seems so dark and lonely without them.

  2. So which pizza won!? We do pizza night about once a week too. My favorite is bianca. Caramelized onions, rotisserie chicken, love, white cheese, spices, etc. Yum. Do you make your own dough? What's the recipe?

  4. Ashley--it's not too bad so far. This is the point last time when I thought, hey, i could handle another! :) But the older they get, the more work and energy they require (in my opinion), so I think it will be more challenging in a few months when Desmond is a bit older and more opinionated. ;) However, I love it! It's so sweet to see Tesla with Desmond. He kisses him and baby-talks him and having two is a lot of fun. Whenever you guys are ready, I say go for it.

Alarie--that sounds DELICIOUS right now. I love caramelized onions on pizza. I think the crust we usually make is actually from you. :) Elyssa emailed the recipe to me. The crust we made for these pizzas was a Pioneer Woman recipe I wanted to try out. Pretty good, but the other one is faster and I didn't really notice a difference in taste. :)

Mom--haha, we don't usually have that kind of fancy shmancy stuff laying about. I bought the prosciutto because I'd never tried it before and then I couldn't decide what to do with it. The sharp white cheddar is a rare delicacy as well. I caved last time I was grocery shopping.
